Retrospective cataloguing of donations
Retrospective cataloguing of works donated by John Vickers, Anne Fagot-Largault and Jean-Pierre Seris will be carried out in January and February 2023. To this end, the IHPST has recruited a full-time librarian assistant on fixed-term contract for a period of 2 months. At the end of this project, all the works from these donations will become part of the IHPST's documentary collection. This represents some 1,000 works, mainly covering the following disciplines: critical philosophy of science, epistemology, philosophy of logic, logic, philosophy of mathematics, mathematics.
Opening collections to the public
Following the extension of the Institute's premises in 2021, a reading room with 6 seats equipped with electrical sockets is now available to the outside public for on-site consultation of works in the library's collection.
Visits are possible on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Signage gets sharper!
To help you find your way around the library's shelves, the signage has been refined.
Reporting periodicals
The long and tedious task of cataloguing IHPST periodicals and reporting their collection status in the SUDoc union catalog and in the Paris 1 local catalog began in early 2018.
CollEX" label
The richness of its collections, the rarity and preciousness of some of its holdings, makes the IHPST library one of the most important in its field of specialization.
Since January 2018, the IHPST library collections have been labeled "collections of excellence" for research by the Ministry of National Education, Higher Education and Research.
You can consult last year's call for expressions of interest here: http://www.collex.eu/appel-a-manifestation-dinteret/
This label enables the unit's library to play a full part in the national documentary landscape, complementing other HPST reference libraries. The Institute is actively involved in this application.
This commitment takes the form of participation in all actions designed to bring researchers closer to the resources made available to them, whether in terms of collection, referencing, digitization, access or enhancement through research services.
Integration into the shared conservation plan for periodicals in philosophy
In June 2017, IHPST decided to integrate the Plan de conservation partagée de périodiques en philosophie.
The aim of the PCP Philo is to rationalize the acquisition, conservation and disposal of paper periodicals between libraries specializing in philosophy or with a significant philosophy holdings. The aim is to establish cooperation between these establishments to safeguard collections in the field of philosophy.
